It’s an exciting time of the year, the NHL and NBA playoffs are about to begin this week. I’ll start off with the hockey predictions post then later in the week we’ll take a look at the NBA Playoffs, be sure to check back. To give some background info, I’m a lifelong New Jersey Devils fan and casual hockey fan in general. I don’t claim to be a die-hard hockey fan by any means, but will watch when games are on and keep up with the Devils box scores and standings every few days throughout the season. After working in the NHL for the former Atlanta Thrashers (now Winnipeg Jets) and having lived in Chicago while the Blackhawks won three Stanley Cups in the past five years, I’ve come to appreciate how the teams and players truly take it up a notch come playoff time. There’s nothing like playoff hockey in all of sports, it can be summed up in one word: intense. The players throw their bodies in front of slap shots, finish their checks and play every playoff game like the season is on the line. To start off, here’s a look at the best plays from the first round of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
We’ll lead off with some links providing info on the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Here’s a link to the schedule of the first round games and below you’ll find the picks by “The Kitchen”, my group of friends and avid sports fans below. Here’s an interesting read by USA Today ranking the Stanley Cup Contenders, the Western Conference appears to be tough this year with four of the top six teams in the rankings. Here’s a link from USA Today with “Bold Predictions”, c’mon now, who doesn’t like bold predictions?
I’ve modeled the first round pick structure for “The Kitchen” after ESPN’s recent article by their NHL experts. We’ll meet up each round to provide our predictions for the next round of games.
